Private schools in Karachi have called for a delay in the upcoming matriculation examinations, citing incomplete arrangements ahead of the scheduled start.
Representatives say key issues remain unresolved, including the finalization of examination centers and the distribution of admit cards to students, raising concerns about preparedness and potential disruption.
The Board of Secondary Education Karachi had earlier announced that the 2026 matriculation (Classes IX and X) annual examinations will commence from April 7 across the city. However, the schedule has sparked concern among private school representatives, who are calling for a postponement due to what they describe as incomplete arrangements.
The Private Schools Association in Karachi has urged authorities to delay the exams, stating that examination centers have yet to be finalized and admit cards have not been properly issued.
The group also highlighted that the distribution of examination materials remains pending, while several logistical and administrative preparations are still incomplete.
According to the association, students and schools remain uncertain about key details, including the locations of exam centers, raising concerns about potential disruption on the first day of examinations.
In response, a spokesperson for the matriculation board rejected these claims, asserting that all necessary arrangements have been finalized.
The board said that admit cards have already been uploaded to its official website, while those for private candidates have been dispatched to their residential addresses.
The spokesperson further added that the board office will remain open even on Sunday to facilitate students. Candidates who have not yet received their admit cards have been advised to collect them from Room No. 5 at the board office.
