Kuwait’s power and water infrastructure came under attack today as hostile Iranian drones struck two major plants, causing significant damage and taking two electricity units offline.
Authorities confirmed there were no casualties, and emergency teams have been deployed to stabilize the systems.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy spokesperson Fatima Jawhar Hayat said in a statement that technical and emergency teams have been deployed under approved emergency plans, coordinating with relevant authorities to maintain the safety and stability of Kuwait’s electricity and water systems, which remain a top priority.
Earlier, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported on X that “hostile missile and drone attacks” were underway in Kuwait. Sirens were triggered during midair explosions, as interceptions of Iranian missiles were heard across the country.
Kuwait and other Gulf states rely heavily on desalinated water. On March 30, an Indian national was killed when a Kuwaiti power and desalination plant was previously attacked. Iran has denied launching the strikes, instead blaming Israel.
The latest incidents occur amid the ongoing US-Israeli conflict with Iran, now in its sixth week, during which Tehran has targeted Israel and Gulf states hosting American military installations.
