KARACHI: Gold and silver prices in the domestic market remained unchanged on Saturday, pausing after a week of sharp swings driven by global market jitters and geopolitical tensions.
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24-karat gold stood firm at Rs.490,362 per tola. The 10-gram rate held at Rs.420,406, while 22-karat gold was quoted at Rs.385,386 per 10 grams. Silver also showed no movement, with the 24-karat tola rate steady at Rs.7,794 and the 10-gram price at Rs.6,682.
Internationally, spot gold was unchanged at $4,676 per ounce, while silver held at $73.10. The flat session followed a turbulent week in which bullion first tumbled on Thursday, then rebounded on Friday, as investors weighed safe-haven demand against surging oil prices and heightened geopolitical risk.
Analysts said the stability on Saturday reflected a “wait-and-see” approach by traders after U.S. President Donald Trump’s vow of “extremely hard” strikes against Iran rattled markets earlier in the week. Oil prices have surged, with Brent crude hovering near $106 per barrel, prompting investors to rebalance portfolios between energy and precious metals.
Local jewellers noted that exchange rate movements and global cues have amplified volatility in bullion prices throughout the week, leaving traders cautious ahead of fresh developments.
