Thanks to a senior citizen, an apparently abandoned newborn baby was rescued from a small drain near Azeempura Bus Stop in Shah Faisal Colony.
Police and emergency teams, including Jahangir Korangi Base, Rescue 1122, and Edhi Foundation, responded immediately and retrieved the infant safely.
Rescue personnel provided initial medical care on-site before transferring the newborn to the Edhi Headquarters for further treatment.
Officials confirmed that the baby is now out of danger, while authorities continue to investigate and search for those responsible for abandoning the child.
This incident echoes a similar case last year when a newborn baby girl was discovered abandoned in a bag inside a garbage bin near Chatta Bakhtawar.
Local residents had alerted authorities after hearing faint cries, and police quickly took the child into custody for medical care and protection.
Authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant, as cases of newborn abandonment continue to be a serious concern across urban areas.
