The Sindh government has announced a subsidy program following a major increase in petrol and diesel prices. Under this scheme, motorcycle owners will receive direct financial assistance of Rs2,000 per month.
According to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, providing discounted fuel at petrol pumps was not administratively feasible. Instead, the government will transfer the subsidy amount directly into citizens’ bank or digital accounts.
The subsidy is calculated based on a relief of Rs100 per liter on 20 liters of petrol, totaling approximately Rs2,000 per month.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, two key conditions must be met: the motorcycle must be registered in the applicant’s name, and the applicant must have an active bank or digital account.
For those whose motorcycles are not registered in their name, the government has waived the ownership transfer fee, allowing free and immediate transfer to become eligible.
Registration Process
The Sindh Excise Department is developing a dedicated mobile application, which will be fully operational for the public within 2–3 days. Once the app is launched, users can register using their CNIC and provide bank account details.
When and how will the money be received?
Once all details are verified, your registration will be completed, and you will be enrolled in the scheme. Approximately 15 days after registration, Rs2,000 will be transferred directly to the eligible person’s account. Payments are expected to begin between April 15 and 20.
Duration of the Scheme
Initially, the scheme will run on a trial basis for one month, with possible extension after evaluation.
