A German cyclist traveling the world, Philipp Saam, was robbed in Islamabad after his high-value bicycle and camera were stolen while he camped overnight near the Islamabad Expressway.
According to reports, Saam had set up camp in the jurisdiction of the Islamabad Police’s Khanna police station during his global cycling journey.
He discovered the theft the following morning, with his bicycle, valued at approximately Rs1 million (over $3,600), and camera missing.
Initial response was reportedly slow, but the situation escalated after the German Embassy Islamabad intervened.
Following diplomatic involvement, police launched a prompt operation and successfully recovered the stolen items from the Orchard Scheme area.
Authorities confirmed that both the bicycle and camera were retrieved and returned. The incident highlights concerns over safety for international travelers, while also underscoring the role of diplomatic coordination in resolving such cases swiftly.
