The Pakistan Super League Technical Committee has upheld the two-match suspension of Fakhar Zaman after dismissing his appeal against the sanction imposed during a recent match.
Fakhar Zaman had challenged the decision of Match Referee Roshan Mahanama, who suspended him for breaching Article 2.14 of the Code of Conduct during the match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings on March 29 at Gaddafi Stadium.
The appeal was heard by the PSL Technical Committee comprising Professor Javed Malik, Dr Mumraiz Naqshband, and Mr Syed Ali Naqi. After conducting a fresh review of the case, examining all evidence, and hearing submissions from relevant parties, the committee decided to dismiss the appeal and maintain the original penalty.
According to the Code of Conduct, Article 2.14 pertains to altering the condition of the ball in violation of clause 41.3 of the HBL PSL Playing Conditions. The offence falls under a Level 3 breach, which carries a minimum penalty of a one-match ban and a maximum of a two-match suspension for a first-time violation.
Under PSL regulations, the decision of the Technical Committee is final and binding on all parties, leaving no further avenue for appeal.
