QUETTA: Security forces killed six militants after foiling a coordinated attack on residential homes in Panjgur district late on Sunday, officials said.
According to reports gathered by MM News from multiple sources, armed assailants entered houses in the Garmkan and Khuda Abadan areas, looting property, damaging homes and setting several vehicles alight.
Responding to tip-offs, security personnel launched an operation and engaged the attackers; officials reported six militants were killed in the ensuing exchange and a large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the scene.
Local residents welcomed the rapid response, saying the swift action prevented further escalation and expressing support for continued security efforts to restore calm.
Separately, the provincial government has invoked Section 144 in 10 districts across Balochistan, including major cities, and imposed a ban on the public display of weapons. Officials said the measures are intended to bolster law and order and deter crimes, including acts of terrorism. Authorities warned that strict action will be taken against anyone who violates the order or the arms ban.
The government said it had taken strict notice of recent incidents and civilian deaths and would pursue necessary steps to maintain security in the province.
