Organized under the banner of rejecting what protesters call an “authoritarian drift,” the events spanned all 50 states with over 3,200 gatherings planned, according to organizers and reports from Al Jazeera English.

Chants of “Hey Trump, You’re Fired!” echoed through crowds, with some signs featuring unexpected international flair, including images of IRGC Spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaghari – a nod to anti-Trump sentiment abroad, as captured in social media posts from the rallies.

In New York City, NBC correspondent Steven Romo reported live from a massive turnout, describing a sea of signs and banners decrying Trump’s governance style amid unseasonably warm spring weather.

More than 3200 rallies have been planned across all 50 U.S. states, protesting against the Trump administration.

Symbolic Displays and International Echoes

San Francisco became a flash-point for visual spectacle, where protesters formed a human mosaic spelling out “TRUMP MUST GO” in a massive aerial display, drawing coverage from RT. The aerial images went viral, amplifying the rally’s reach on platforms like X (formerly Twitter).

Iranian flags fluttered alongside American ones at several events, intertwining domestic discontent with global critiques. One notable moment came via video clips showing Bernie Sanders – the Vermont senator and progressive icon – pledging from a rally stage to “halt the $1 billion arms deal to Israel” if given the chance, framing Trump’s foreign policy as reckless escalation.

Organizers framed the “No Kings” moniker as a direct rebuke to perceived power grabs, echoing historical American resistance to monarchy. “This is our republic, not a throne room,” one D.C. protester told reporters, holding a sign likening Trump to a modern-day monarch.

Scale and Spread: A 50-State Uprising

The protests’ breadth underscored their momentum:
– New York: Thousands marched past Trump Tower, with Romo’s Sky News footage showing police maintaining order amid booming chants.
– San Francisco: The “TRUMP MUST GO” formation highlighted tech-hub activism, blending local issues like housing with national grievances.
– Smaller locales: From rural Montana to urban Miami, events drew hundreds per site, per event trackers, totaling an estimated national crowd exceeding 500,000.
– Historic label: X user @Megatron_ron dubbed them “historic protests,” a sentiment echoed in real-time threads.

No major arrests were reported by evening, though tensions simmered in cities like Los Angeles and Chicago, where counter-protesters clashed verbally with Trump supporters.

Broader Context and Reactions

This third “No Kings” iteration builds on prior weekends’ unrest, fueled by Trump’s recent executive actions on immigration and trade. Critics, including Democratic leaders, hailed the rallies as a democratic check; Trump dismissed them on Truth Social as “paid agitators funded by radicals.”

As night fell, the protests signaled deepening polarization ahead of midterms. Organizers vowed monthly repeats until “accountability arrives.”
