Sindh Minister likens Khalid Maqbool’s rhetoric to Netanyahu

KARACHI: Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah has strongly condemned remarks by MQM leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, likening his thinking to that of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Speaking at a strategic planning workshop organized by the provincial government, Shah said, “We have talked about ending violence. Such a statement by a federal minister is condemnable. If people like Khalid Maqbool continue to think like this, then he is an example of extremism. If Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui talks about violence, he should also sit with Netanyahu.”

It may be added here that MQM Pakistan leader Khalid Maqbool has frequently criticized the Sindh government for Karachi’s development delays, law and order issues, “feudal” governance, and what he calls one-family rule by PPP. He has demanded resignations from CM Murad Ali Shah, Sharjeel Inam Memon, and Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and has urged federal intervention or a judicial commission on Karachi’s affairs, slammed “unholy alliances”, accusing the provincial setup of being oppressive.

Syed Sardar Ali Shah emphasized that Sindh would follow federal decisions in the spirit of national unity, particularly in light of regional tensions.

He announced that schools across Sindh will remain closed until March 31, while examinations will continue as scheduled. Shah underscored that provincial policies on education will align with federal directives, reiterating that unity is essential in the current climate.
