The government has established a national system for the integration and exchange of threat intelligence.
The locally operated National CERT system has been linked with the PTA and the Pakistan Army Cyber Division, enabling timely identification of cyber threats.
According to private channel Express, the National CERT system has been implemented via the Malware Information Sharing Platform (MISP).
The system is now connected with the Pakistan Army Cyber Division and PTA. The exchange of information between these three entities ensures coordinated national cyber defence, and the threat intelligence sharing system further strengthens national cybersecurity.
The locally operated MISP system enhances the country’s cyber sovereignty, enabling timely detection of cyber threats from central threat intelligence, reducing reliance on foreign intelligence, and improving preparedness against modern threats. It will provide early warning against potential targeting of critical national, governmental, and telecom systems.
Real-time identification and rapid response to threats will limit the spread of cyberattacks.
The threat intelligence sharing system establishes robust coordination among institutions, and joint intelligence efforts will assist in threat hunting and preemptive prevention of risks.
Meanwhile, National CERT has ordered immediate audits and strict monitoring of all software and hardware in use, making it mandatory for all institutions to conduct a prompt review of their IT infrastructure.
