The restriction, introduced to manage fuel consumption during the ongoing ME conflict, has forced households to significantly scale down their guest lists, often leading to difficult choices and social tensions.
Families accustomed to hosting large, elaborate events now find themselves reconsidering venues, catering arrangements, and overall budgets. Wedding planners and banquet owners have also reported a decline in bookings, as clients either postpone events or opt for smaller, simpler ceremonies.
The limit has proven especially challenging in a culture where weddings are seen as major social occasions involving extended family, friends, and community members.
Many families are splitting events across multiple days or hosting separate functions to accommodate more guests within the rules.
While authorities maintain that the policy is necessary for better crowd management, critics argue that it has dampened the celebratory spirit of weddings and placed an emotional and logistical burden on families during an already expensive time.
