Two oil refineries in Kuwait caught fire following drone attacks, but authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported and the situation has been brought under control.
According to Turkish media, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said the first drone strike targeted an operational unit at the Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery, causing a limited fire. The refinery is operated by Kuwait National Petroleum Company.
The statement added that relevant authorities responded immediately, taking steps to extinguish the fire and ensure safe operations at the facility.
In a separate incident, another drone strike hit an operational unit at the Mina Abdullah refinery, also sparking a fire. Officials said pre-existing safety measures at both refineries helped ensure the protection of personnel.
Kuwait’s state news agency reported that six firefighting teams were dispatched to the sites and successfully brought both fires under control.
Authorities noted a recent increase in attempted missile and drone attacks in Kuwait, most of which have been thwarted. No loss of life has been reported in any of the incidents.
Meanwhile, Iran said that it is targeting US interests and installations in the region as part of ongoing tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it did not intend to expand the conflict to oil facilities or harm the economies of friendly and neighboring countries, but claimed that targeting US-linked energy installations had become unavoidable in defending its own infrastructure.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said an angry Israel “violently lashed out” and attacked Iran’s major gas field, however, ruled out further such attacks by Israel unless Iran retaliated.
