Saudi Arabia announces Eid al-Fitr on 20 March after moon not sighted

Saudi Arabia has announced that the moon of Eid al-Fitr has not been sighted, and therefore Eid will be observed on Friday, 20 March.

Meetings were held at various observatories across the country to sight the Shawwal moon.

The Saudi Supreme Court had also urged citizens to look for the moon, but no confirmed sightings were reported.

After reviewing reports from observatories and moon-sighting committees nationwide, the Supreme Court officially declared that the holy month of Ramadan will complete 30 days.

As a result, 1 Shawwal 1447 AH will fall on Friday, 20 March 2026.
