The Government of Balochistan has announced a public holiday across the province on Thursday, March 19.
According to the notification, all government and private institutions in the province will remain closed on that day.
Meanwhile, the Government of Pakistan has declared a two-day public holiday for Eid ul-Fitr. The official announcement says that March 20 and 21, 2026, will be holidays, falling on Friday and Saturday. These holidays will apply to government offices that operate five- or six-day work weeks.
During Eid ul-Fitr, government employees will receive four days off. March 22, Sunday, will be a regular weekly holiday, while March 23 will also be a public holiday in observance of Pakistan Day.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has indicated that Eid ul Fitr is likely to fall on March 21, following a 30-day Ramadan.
It noted that the Shawwal moon is expected to be born on March 19, but chances of sighting it that evening remain low.
