The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday witnessed bullish momentum with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining over 4,000 points.
At close, the index settled at 154,292.25, marking a rise of 4,276.09 points, or 2.85%.
Gains were seen across major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, fertilizer, oil and gas exploration, oil marketing companies, power generation, and refineries. Heavyweight stocks such as DGKC, HBL, MCB, MEBL, MARI, OGDC, POL, PPL, PSO, SNGPL, and SSGC all traded in positive territory.
On Tuesday, the PSX showed mixed but resilient performance, with the benchmark index reclaiming the key 150,000 level amid improving investor sentiment. However, trading activity remained cautious due to ongoing geopolitical tensions and recent market volatility.
The KSE-100 Index had closed at 150,016.16 points on Tuesday, up by 837.50 points, or 0.56%.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert Khorev, said Moscow is willing to provide discounted oil to Pakistan and encouraged Islamabad to formally pursue the opportunity.
He said that such supplies could be arranged if the Pakistani government makes an official request.
