Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that the country’s fuel requirements for the current month have been fully secured, while planning for April has also been completed.
According to details, a meeting of the cabinet committee on monitoring petroleum products was held under the chairmanship of Muhammad Aurangzeb. During the briefing, it was stated that fuel needed for March has been fully arranged.
The briefing further noted that planning has also been completed to ensure fuel supply for April. The finance minister said the country’s position regarding fuel availability is satisfactory, adding that efforts are under way to explore additional sources of supply from the global market.
Aurangzeb stressed that there is no need for panic buying or unnecessary hoarding, as the fuel situation remains stable.
It is worth noting that earlier, the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association had announced a nationwide strike over an increase of Rs55 per litre in petrol and diesel prices.
The Petroleum Dealers Association is expected to stage the strike after Eid al-Fitr. Its vice chairman, Tariq Hassan, said the government had raised fuel prices overnight, adding that Rs21 per litre was added in petroleum levy, while questioning where the remaining Rs36 per litre was going.
