LONDON: Social media erupted late Thursday after reports that Pakistani-origin journalist and commentator Safina Khan— who is know for often making waves in diaspora media circles, was the victim of a burglary at her East London residence.
According to initial accounts, unidentified individuals broke into Khan’s home in the evening, swiftly grabbing valuables including jewelry, watches, sunglasses, cash, and other personal items. Police confirmed an investigation is underway but have yet to announce arrests or recoveries.
Khan, however, insists the incident was not a random crime. “This was a targeted attack,” she told colleagues, hinting at possible links to her outspoken journalism and political commentary.

Safina Khan, who works with NEO News and serves as Secretary General of the Pakistan Press Club London, has long divided opinion in diaspora circles.
She has been openly critical of Imran Khan and PTI, accusing them of jailing rivals and weaponizing accountability institutions. At the same time, she has praised Maryam Nawaz’s performance as Chief Minister and frequently appeared at PML-N–aligned events in London. Her confrontational style has made her a lightning rod for controversy, with multiple viral spats cementing her reputation as “abusive towards everyone,” according to detractors.
Another diaspora journalist, Dr. Shama Junejo, drew parallels to her own past burglary case where police failed to catch culprits, expressing little hope for justice this time.
It is generally believed that Safina Khan’s burglary isn’t just about stolen jewelry—it’s about whether her sharp tongue and polarizing politics have made her a marked woman in London’s Pakistani media scene.
Meanwhile, supporters argue Khan is being deliberately targeted for her views, while critics dismiss the burglary as unrelated to politics, framing it as London’s domestic crime wave.
