Viral claims of Saudi policy shift on Pakistan investment are fake

In what appears to be an attempt by anti-Pakistan elements — and social media users chasing clicks for personal gain — a recent claim that Saudi Arabia has altered its investment policies toward Pakistan has been debunked as fake.

These assertions, often shared with an old Geo News clip, suggest that Riyadh has shifted its stance on loans, deposits, and grants. However, the video being circulated is from 2023, not recent, and does not reflect Saudi Arabia’s current position.

سعودی عرب کا پاکستان کیلئے امداد اور ادھار تیل پر پابندی!
ہم عوامی ٹیکس کا قیمتی پیسہ ایسے مفت خور بھکاریوں کو نہیں دینگے

In reality, Saudi Arabia’s financial engagement with Pakistan remains consistent because just in December 2025, Riyadh rolled over its $3 billion loan for another year, while continuing to provide oil on deferred payments—critical support for Pakistan’s struggling reserves.

These steps are in line with Saudi Arabia’s established approach, not evidence of a sudden policy change.

The confusion stems from recycled footage being presented as fresh news in the wake of ongoing US-Iran war. By stripping the clip of its original date and context, online actors created the impression of a new development. This is a classic case of disinformation, where outdated material is repackaged to mislead audiences.

Saudi Arabia’s $5 billion pledge and multi billion-dollar MoUs across key sectors remain fully intact, officials confirm, proving that viral claims aren’t just misinformation—it’s deliberate deception.
