RAWALPINDI: Security forces are reported to have conducted two intelligence-based operations in Balochistan on March 5, killing 15 militants, the military’s media wing announced.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first operation was carried out in Harnai district, where militants linked to banned outfits were targeted. An intense exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the killing of 12 militants.
In a separate action in Basima district, security forces engaged another group of militants, killing three.
The operations announced by ISPR appear part of an intensified drive against militant networks in the province. The crackdown follows a series of coordinated attacks carried out by Baloch militants on January 31, during which several key offices and routes were blocked and held hostage for hours.
Security officials maintain that the recent operations are aimed at dismantling militant infrastructure and preventing further disruption in the province.
