Unknown hackers briefly disrupted the transmission of Geo News, airing an anti-Pakistan Army message before the attempt was thwarted and normal broadcasting resumed.
Managing Director Azhar Abbas confirmed the hacking attempt in a statement posted on X. He said that over the past 24 hours, there had been repeated efforts by unidentified elements to hack Geo News — which broadcasts via Pakistan’s satellite “PakSat” — and disrupt its transmission.
Mr Abbas added that the channel had been facing continuous interference for some time, during which its screen was hacked and an inappropriate message was aired.
He clarified that the content had no connection to Geo News and urged the authorities to take immediate notice of the incident, investigate the matter thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice.
