Precious metal prices showed a split trend in Pakistan as the final trading week of February drew to a close. While gold remained steady following midweek fluctuations, silver saw a notable jump in value.
Gold Rates Remain Steady
Local gold markets maintained a holding pattern this Saturday, with prices for 24-karat gold remaining unchanged at Rs540,562 per tola.
According to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the market saw no variation from the previous session’s close. This stability follows a brief dip on Thursday when the metal shed Rs700.
| Unit | Rate (24K) |
| Per Tola | Rs540,562 |
| 10 Grams | Rs463,444 |
Silver Prices on the Rise
While gold held its ground, silver investors saw significant movement. The price of silver surged by Rs270, closing the week at Rs9,474 per tola. This upward momentum in the white metal reflects shifting demand in the local bullion market despite the stagnant gold rates.
International Market Context
The domestic stability in gold mirrors the global trend. On the international stage, gold prices held firm at $5,178 per ounce (a price that includes a $20 premium). Global investors appear to be in a “wait-and-see” mode as February concludes, keeping prices locked within a tight range.
