Armed terrorists stormed a mosque in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, abducting three brothers, two of whom were police officials.
According to eyewitnesses, around 10 to 12 armed men entered the mosque, took worshippers hostage, and forcibly took the three brothers to an undisclosed location.
The abducted men were identified as Saeed Akhtar, a clerk at the commissioner’s office, and his brothers Amjad and Hazratullah, both posted with the police in the Wazir subdivision.
Police later confirmed that the two officers were brutally killed, with their bodies found dumped along Marwat Canal Road. The third brother remains missing.
Local Chairman Masoom Wazir said he was informed about the discovery of two bodies and rushed to the scene, where he found both victims lying in pools of blood. The bodies were subsequently shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan said that the attackers were affiliated with a militant group and that a comprehensive operation had been launched against them. He vowed that the sacrifice of the fallen officers would not go unanswered and that those responsible would be brought to justice.
