Lahore will begin issuing driving permits for individuals under 18 years of age starting March 1.
Waqas Nazir, DIG Traffic Punjab, said that teenagers aged 16 and above will be eligible to obtain a driving permit, while those under 16 will not qualify.
Applicants must have a NADRA smart card or Form-B, and written consent from parents will be required.
Waqas Nazir clarified that permits issued under this scheme will not allow holders to drive motorcycles over 125cc, cars, or commercial vehicles.
Earlier, the Punjab government approved the Motor Vehicles (Motorcycles) Amendment Bill 2026, which officially creates a path for minors to ride legally.
The initiative aims to provide young drivers with legal driving experience while promoting better awareness of traffic rules and regulations.
