Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan was transported from jail to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) today for specialized ocular treatment, according to hospital officials.
The Executive Director of PIMS confirmed that the visit was part of a pre-scheduled medical protocol. Despite earlier hints from government officials that the follow-up would occur on February 25, the procedure was moved forward to Tuesday.
The Medical Procedure
Under the supervision of a high-level medical board, Imran Khan received his second dose of an anti-VEGF injection. This treatment is typically administered to manage retinal conditions and prevent vision loss.
The injection was administered in a dedicated operating theater using advanced microscopy, led by an expert surgeon.
As a precautionary measure, a consultant cardiologist performed both an ECG and an echocardiography.
Hospital sources confirmed that all cardiac tests returned normal results, and the PTI founder remained stable throughout the process.
Official Protocol and Discharge
Hospital authorities emphasized that the procedure was conducted with the former premier’s explicit consent and followed strict medical guidelines.
“Imran Khan’s condition remained stable before, during, and after the treatment. He has been discharged with specific medical advice for his recovery,” stated the PIMS Executive Director.
While Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry had previously noted that these hospital visits are based strictly on the advice of jail doctors rather than political requests, the high-profile movement continues to draw significant public and media attention.
