Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan has 6/6 vision in one eye, while the vision in his other eye is 70 per cent with corrective glasses.
Addressing a ceremony organised by the Sheikhupura Bar Council, Tarar said the government was fully aware of the challenges faced by lawyers and resolving those issues remained a priority.
He emphasised that effective delivery of justice required close cooperation between the bar and the bench.
The minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the results of difficult policy decisions were now beginning to emerge and that the country’s economy was moving in the right direction.
He stressed that political stability was essential for sustained economic stability.
Tarar further stated that Pakistan was a federation comprising four provinces, adding that Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir were integral parts of the country.
Referring to protests and road closures, he said the blocking of motorways and the GT Road was unconstitutional and urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law.
He warned that if roads were not reopened, the federal government would be compelled to act in accordance with the Constitution.
Speaking about Imran Khan’s health, the law minister said the medical team had expressed complete satisfaction with the ongoing treatment. He added that opposition leaders and Khan’s personal doctors had been given a detailed medical briefing.
Azam Nazeer Tarar reiterated that Imran Khan’s vision in one eye was 70 per cent with glasses, while the other eye retained full 6/6 vision.
It is worth noting that a team of specialist doctors from PIMS and Al-Shifa International Hospital conducted a comprehensive medical examination of Imran Khan at Adiala Jail a day earlier.
Previously, following a meeting with the PTI founder, his lawyer Salman Safdar had informed the Supreme Court that Imran Khan’s eyesight had deteriorated to 15 per cent.
The Supreme Court had directed that a detailed medical report be submitted by 16 February.
