The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday continued to witness selling pressure as the benchmark KSE-100 Index fell over 900 points.
At close, the benchmark index settled at 179,603.73, a decline of 908.91 points or 0.5%.
Selling pressure was evident across major sectors, including cement, commercial banks, fertilizer, oil and gas exploration, oil marketing companies (OMCs), and power generation.
Heavily weighted stocks such as OGDC, MARI, POL, PPL, HUBCO, ARL, MCB, MEBL and UBL all closed in negative territory.
On Thursday, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) faced persistent selling amid rising uncertainty, broad-based sector weakness and negative sentiment linked to large-scale mining investments, leading to a sharp decline in benchmark indices.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index fell by 2,537.16 points, or 1.39%, to close at 180,512.65 points.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reportedly agreed to roll over $2 billion in deposits for two months.
According to the report, the assurance was given after Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar contacted senior UAE officials earlier this week. Quoting top Pakistani officials, the report said the UAE extended the rollover until April 17 at an interest rate of 6.5%.
