In a shocking incident driven by digital desperation, a 27-year-old Indian YouTuber reportedly set fire to his own professional studio after failing to gain a following on the platform.
According to Indian media reports from the Garhwa district of Jharkhand, the YouTuber, identified as Vidhayak Prajapati, torched his home-based studio on Saturday night. Fortunately, local police and neighbors managed to rescue his family members from the burning building.
A Dream Turned Into Ashes
The fire resulted in the destruction of equipment valued at over 1 million Indian rupees (10 lakhs). Details of the incident reveal a tragic backstory of financial and emotional investment.
Neighbors informed the media that Prajapati had sold his ancestral land to fund the construction of the modern film editing and digital work studio.
Despite his significant investment, his channel failed to gain traction over several months. This lack of “stardom” led to a state of severe clinical depression.
After isolating himself for a week, Prajapati locked himself inside the studio at approximately 10:00 PM on Saturday and ignited the fire.
The alarm was raised when smoke filled the house and the family’s screams alerted the neighborhood.
“The police had to break down a side wall to enter the smoke-filled house and safely evacuate the family,” a neighbor shared with reporters.
While his family was being rescued, Prajapati allegedly jumped over a back wall and fled the scene. His relatives located him on Sunday morning, and he is currently undergoing treatment for mental health issues.
