The International Cricket Council (ICC) has stepped in and will send a delegation to Pakistan today in an effort to persuade the country to play the high-profile T20 World Cup match against India.
According to details, an ICC delegation has arrived in Pakistan and is expected to hold meetings with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials.
The ICC Deputy Chairman is scheduled to arrive in Lahore, after which an emergency meeting is likely to take place.
Sources say the ICC team will hold discussions with the PCB regarding Pakistan’s decision to boycott the match against India and will attempt to convince the PCB chairman to reconsider the decision.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Aminul Islam has also arrived in Pakistan.
It is expected that Aminul Islam will participate in the joint meeting between the PCB and the ICC.
The Pakistan–India clash, one of the most anticipated matches of the World Cup, is scheduled for 15 February. Pakistan had earlier announced its decision to boycott the fixture in solidarity with Bangladesh.
