The historic Basant Festival has officially commenced across Lahore, transforming the city into a hub of celebration, music, and kite flying.
Rooftops are packed with enthusiasts, and the air is thick with the traditional chants of “Bo-Kata” echoing to the rhythmic beat of drums.
The Grand Opening
The festivities officially began at midnight, inaugurated by Punjab’s Information Minister, Azma Bukhari, who performed the ceremonial kite flying to mark the start of the event.
As the clock struck twelve, the night sky, usually filled with stars, was overtaken by thousands of colorful kites, illuminated by the bright lights of festive rooftops.

A Celebration for Everyone
The spirit of Basant has swept through all demographics. Women are participating with great fervor, celebrating the arrival of spring with yellow dresses and customary food items.
Official Recognition
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz joined the celebrations digitally by sharing a video on social media showcasing citizens enjoying the festivities.
Shortly before the official launch, the Chief Minister conducted a visit to various areas of Lahore to witness the preparations firsthand.
