In a significant move to support the business community following the Gul Plaza tragedy, Mayor of Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah have announced a comprehensive relief and compensation plan.
Mayor of Karachi Murtaza Wahab has announced that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will provide 1,200 free stalls at Polo Ground to the affected shopkeepers for the upcoming month of Ramadan.
This initiative aims to provide immediate relief to traders whose businesses were devastated by the fire.
Mayor Wahab stated that Ramadan is a peak season for traders, and the Sindh government, PPP, and KMC stand firmly with the victims during this difficult time.
Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has also assured the victims of full support, confirming that financial aid distribution has already commenced.
Affected shopkeepers have started receiving PKR 500,000 each as initial assistance.
The Chief Minister stated that the Karachi Chamber of Commerce has provided a list of affectees. Within 2 to 3 weeks, further aid will be disbursed after a complete assessment of the loss of goods and property.
CM Shah prayed for the victims who lost their lives in the tragedy and confirmed that the process of providing financial support to the families of the deceased is underway.
