Fans of the blockbuster Animal can finally mark their calendars for the highly anticipated sequel, Animal Park.
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and star Ranbir Kapoor shared exciting new details during a special interaction following a screening of the original film in Japan, ahead of its theatrical release there on February 13, 2026.
In conversations with the audience and media, Vanga confirmed that production on Animal Park will commence in mid-2027, but only after he wraps up his current project, the action film Spirit starring Prabhas, which is slated for a March 2027 release.
“Animal Park will start soon once I finish my current film,” Vanga stated.
“There will be more ‘animals’ because Aziz is another animal… it’s a war between the two brothers now who look alike, so I thought Animal Park would be the right title. As of now, we’ll begin shooting in mid-2027.”
The filmmaker also teased a significantly darker and more aggressive tone for the sequel compared to the 2023 hit. He emphasized higher stakes, intense conflicts, and a raw, animalistic edge in the narrative, explaining the title as a nod to the increased presence of “more animals” in the form of ruthless, primal characters and rivalries.
Ranbir Kapoor, who made a massive comeback with Animal, expressed tremendous enthusiasm for returning to the franchise.
He is set to play a challenging double role: reprising his protagonist Ranvijay “Vijay” Singh from the first film while also portraying the antagonist Aziz Haque, the professional butcher from Istanbul introduced in the post-credits scene.
“I can’t wait to get back on set with Sandeep and play this character again,” Kapoor said. “I can’t wait to play both roles this time.
While audiences await Animal Park, Ranbir Kapoor has a packed slate ahead. He will next appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War (slated for June 2026) and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One (expected around Diwali 2026).
The original Animal, which grossed over ₹900 crore worldwide despite its polarizing reception, proved a massive commercial success and sparked widespread discussions.
