Rajanpur: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated electric buses in Rajanpur on Thursday, providing affordable and modern transport for residents and students.
At the same event, she also announced that 3 to 5 acres of government agricultural land would be allotted to poor farmers.
Addressing the ceremony, the CM said a new chapter of development had begun for Rajanpur, a city she described as long neglected. She emphasised that the development of underprivileged areas remained a top priority and pledged sustained focus on the city.
Maryam Nawaz explained that buses currently running in Lahore would now operate in Rajanpur as part of a broader plan to expand the electric bus network across Punjab.
According to the CM, 15 buses have been deployed in Rajanpur, while 1,500 additional electric buses will be introduced across every tehsil in the province within the year.
Fares will be set at Rs20, ensuring affordable, quality travel for students and the general public.
She added that efforts are underway in all districts to address public issues and ensure access to essential facilities, highlighting a wider provincial development agenda.
