A major robbery was reported in Karachi’s Korangi area, where more than eight armed suspects allegedly looted several jewelry shops in Awami Colony before fleeing the scene.
According to police, the suspects arrived on a car and motorcycles. Initial investigations, based on the statement of a security guard, revealed that the robbers broke the locks of at least four jewelry shops and made off with all the gold and cash inside.
The incident was reported to Awami Colony police, who reached the spot soon after and called in the crime scene unit to collect evidence. Further investigations are under way.
Last week, armed criminals broke into a house in PNT Colony, Korangi, during the early hours of Monday. Police said five gunmen scaled the walls of the house around 5:30am, held the family at gunpoint and looted valuables worth millions of rupees.
The family, including an elderly man, his three sons, their wives and children, was terrorised as the robbers ransacked the house. The suspects escaped with around 25 tola of gold worth approximately Rs12.5 million, Rs360,000 in cash, three mobile phones, children’s toys, clothing, shoes and other household items.
Police from the Korangi Industrial Area summoned the crime scene unit to gather forensic evidence, while efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the suspects.
