A major fire broke out in a cluster of shops near the Quaidabad area today, causing significant financial loss.
Upon receiving the alert, fire brigade and rescue personnel rushed to the scene to initiate emergency operations.
The blaze produced thick clouds of black smoke that could be seen billowing into the sky from a distance. Currently, one fire engine is on-site battling the flames. While the extent of the property damage is feared to be substantial, no casualties have been reported thus far.
This incident follows a recent fire at a cloth warehouse in the Godhra area of New Karachi. That blaze, which required seven fire tenders and water tankers to extinguish, led to a startling revelation: commercial activities were being conducted illegally within a residential plot.
According to the fire officer, the warehouse was being used to store old clothes in a space meant for housing. He emphasized that such illegal commercial operations in residential areas create immense hurdles for rescue teams during emergencies.
While the New Karachi fire is now under control, the cause of the Quaidabad blaze remains unknown and is under investigation.
