The Excise and Taxation Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has successfully concluded a major auction of premium and personalized vehicle number plates in Peshawar, generating record revenue for the provincial government. A total of 11 special number plates were sold, raising Rs 581 million, making it one of the most successful auctions held in the province.
The auction was held on Tuesday at Nishtar Hall, where the personalized number plate “Khan 1” fetched Rs 111 million, ranking as the third-highest sale. The plate was named after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, and the provincial government had expected it to attract an even higher bid.
The highest bid of the auction was recorded for “Wazir 1,” which was sold for Rs 150 million, followed by “Afridi 1,” which fetched Rs 140 million. “Khan 1” was acquired by former provincial minister and PTI MPA Nek Muhammad Khan Wazir, while both “Wazir 1” and “Afridi 1” were purchased by prominent businessman and Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi.
Other notable sales included “Peshawar 1” for Rs 100 million, “Haripur 1” for Rs 8 million, and “Yousafzai 1” for Rs 4.92 million. Meanwhile, “Durrani 1” was sold for Rs 1.66 million, “Malakand 1” for Rs 1.25 million, and “Swabi 1” for Rs 1.2 million.
