A viral notification claiming that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reduced taxes on mobile phones is fake. The PTA has officially debunked the document as misleading and unauthorized.
For the past few days, a document has been circulating on social media platforms (WhatsApp, X, and Facebook) claiming that the PTA has slashed taxes on mobile phones and issued new instructions for importers and individual consumers.
The PTA issued a formal clarification via its official handle on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the notification is completely false and misleading.

No such instructions regarding a reduction in mobile taxes have been issued by the authority.
The PTA urged the public to avoid sharing unverified information and “fake news” that causes confusion in the market.
The spokesperson emphasized that all authentic updates, tax regulations, and announcements are only published on the official PTA website and their verified social media channels.
