The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday continued to its winning streak as the benchmark KSE-100 gained nearly 1,500 points.
At close, the benchmark index settled at 189,166.82, a gain of 1,478.66 points or 0.79%.
Strong buying was witnessed across key sectors such as cement, commercial banks, automobile assemblers, oil and gas companies, OMCs. Index-heavy stocks, including ARL, HUBCO, OGDC, POL, PPL, SNGPL, FFC, MCB, MEBL, NBP and UBL, all traded in the green.
On Thursday, the PSX posted a modest rebound as selective buying lifted the market after the previous session’s sharp sell-off. Improved sentiment across most sectors supported gains, enabling benchmark indices to finish higher.
The KSE-100 Index advanced 654.90 points, or 0.35%, to close at 187,688.16.
Meanwhile in the currency market, the Pakistani rupee edged upward against the US dollar in the inter-bank market on Friday.
At close, the local currency settled at 279.86 after gaining Rs0.01 against the dollar.
On Thursday, the local unit closed at 279.87.
