Renowned Indian sports journalist Vikrant Gupta has said that, for the first time, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has a chairman as strong and assertive as Mohsin Naqvi.
Speaking during a television show, Vikrant Gupta remarked that the PCB now has a leader who is prepared to confront challenges head-on.
“This is the first time Pakistan cricket has someone who says, ‘Come on, let’s fight eye to eye,’” he said, highlighting what he described as Mohsin Naqvi’s bold and uncompromising approach.
Gupta added that Mohsin Naqvi deserves credit for taking a firm stand on matters involving Pakistan cricket and international boards.
It is worth noting that the PCB recently wrote a letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s decision not to travel to India for the World Cup.
According to media reports, the PCB supported Bangladesh’s stance and endorsed its position of not playing World Cup matches in India under the prevailing circumstances.
Earlier, Mohsin Naqvi had also ordered a halt to all preparations related to Pakistan’s team for the T20 World Cup, signalling his dissatisfaction over unresolved issues.
In addition, during the Asia Cup, the Indian team reportedly refused to receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi after their victory.
As a result, the trophy was not formally presented to the Indian side, a move that further fuelled discussion around tensions between the two cricket boards.
These developments have placed Mohsin Naqvi at the centre of regional cricket politics, with observers noting his increasingly prominent and assertive role as PCB chairman.
