The federal government has officially announced the public holidays for 2026, covering national, Islamic, and minority festivals. The notification, issued by the Cabinet Division, outlines holidays for major observances throughout the year, including Kashmir Day, Pakistan Day, Eid celebrations, and other significant occasions.
The Cabinet Secretariat declared the general holidays for 2026, while the Cabinet Division issued a formal notification regarding public holidays on national, Islamic, and minority festivals.
According to the notification, the first holiday of the year will be on Kashmir Day, 5 February (Thursday), followed by Pakistan Day on 23 March (Monday).
Eid al-Fitr holidays will be observed on 21, 22, and 23 April, International Labour Day on 1 May, and Youm-e-Takbeer on 28 May. Eid al-Adha will be observed with holidays on 27, 28, and 29 June, while 9 and 10 Muharram (24 and 25 June) will also be holidays.
Pakistan’s Independence Day on 14 August (Friday) and Eid Milad-un-Nabi on 25 August (Tuesday) will also be public holidays.
Holidays will also be observed on Allama Iqbal’s birth anniversary on 9 November (Monday), Quaid-e-Azam’s birthday, and Christmas on 25 December, while 26 December will be a holiday exclusively for the Christian community.
Moreover, 1 January, 18 February, and 1 July will be bank holidays.
