The moon marking the beginning of Shaban-ul-Muazzam was not sighted anywhere in Pakistan, and the first day of the Islamic month will therefore be observed on Wednesday, 21 January.
The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad to review moon sighting reports.
Members of the central committee, along with representatives of zonal committees from across the country, attended the session.
Officials from the Pakistan Meteorological Department, astronomy experts and representatives of other relevant institutions were also present during the meeting to assist in the assessment process.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced that no credible moon sighting was reported from any part of the country.
As a result, Shaban-ul-Muazzam will begin on 21 January, while Shab-e-Barat will be observed on 4 February.
