Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the head of the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Pakistan alliance, has been appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly.
In this regard, the Speaker of the National Assembly has issued the formal notification for the appointment.
It is worth noting that the position of Opposition Leader in the Lower House became vacant following the disqualification of Omar Ayub Khan.
Earlier, a delegation of opposition members arrived at the speaker’s chamber to meet with him. The delegation included PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Shahram Tarakai, Ali Asghar Khan, Junaid Akbar, and Jamal Ahsan Khan.
The Speaker had summoned the opposition leaders specifically regarding the notification for the appointment of the Leader of the Opposition
