The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is set to auction number plates bearing the names of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, President Asif Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, and other prominent political figures.
As per local media reports, Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Fakhr Jaha said that the auction of fancy and unique choice number plates featuring the names of political and national personalities will be held on January 27 at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar.
According to Fakhr Jahan, bidding for the fancy number plates will start at Rs 1 million, and the highest bidder will be awarded a number plate bearing the name of their preferred political or national personality.
He added that, in phases, number plates named after other national leaders, well-known personalities, regions, and ethnic groups will also be included in the auction.
The provincial minister said that vehicle owners are showing keen interest in the auction process and that this initiative will significantly benefit the national treasury. Citizens have started submitting applications through the Dastak app to obtain unique number plates.
The last date for submitting applications has been set as January 26, 2026.
In recent months, the Sindh government has held high-profile auctions for premium number plates, selling plates with sought-after codes like “A1” for record sums, with the “A1” plate alone fetching around Rs 100 million at auction.
These auctions of unique registration numbers have attracted wealthy bidders and generated significant revenue for the provincial government, with dozens of premium plates sold in the first phase raising hundreds of millions of rupees.
