Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has declared that Iran is fully prepared to confront any American aggression, issuing a direct challenge to the White House as domestic and international tensions reach a breaking point.
“If Washington wants to test the military option it has tested before, we are ready for it,” Araghchi told Al Jazeera, signaling Tehran’s refusal to back down despite a tightening security grip at home and escalating economic pressure from abroad.
In direct response to the escalating crisis, the United States has urged its citizens to leave Iran immediately.
In a security alert issued Tuesday, the Virtual U.S. Embassy warned that demonstrations “are escalating and may turn violent,” citing ongoing road closures, public transportation disruptions, and a total internet blackout now entering its fifth day.
Trump Threatens 25% Tariffs; China Reacts
The conflict has expanded into a global economic standoff after President Donald Trump announced that any nation doing business with Iran will face a 25 percent tariff on trade with the United States.
The move sparked an immediate backlash from Beijing. China officially stated its opposition to “any illicit unilateral sanctions and long-arm jurisdiction,” marking a significant rift between the world’s two largest economies over Iranian policy.
Rising Death Toll and Digital Silence
While the government maintains a nationwide internet blockage to stifle communication, the human cost of the unrest continues to climb.
Iranian state media reports the deaths of more than 100 security personnel. Conversely, opposition activists claim the death toll is significantly higher, alleging that security forces have killed hundreds of protesters.
