At least five people lost their lives in a tragic road accident on Sunday when a speeding car slammed into a truck near Bab-e-Khyber, highlighting ongoing concerns over traffic safety in the area.
The crash took place on the main road in Khyber district when a car, allegedly travelling at high speed, collided head-on with an oncoming truck.
The force of the impact severely damaged the vehicle, resulting in the deaths of five people, rescue officials confirmed.
Emergency teams arrived at the scene shortly after being alerted but found that all five occupants had already succumbed to their injuries. The bodies were transported to a nearby hospital to complete medico-legal procedures.
Rescue officials said overspeeding was the apparent cause of the accident.
The incident occurred just three days after another fatal accident in Chakwal district, where five passengers lost their lives when a bus met with an accident.
