Pakistan opted to field after winning the toss against Sri Lanka in the opening match of the three-game T20 International series at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Wednesday.
All matches in the series will be staged at the same venue, with the remaining encounters set for January 9 and 11.
Weather had been a concern ahead of the opener, as continuous rainfall on Tuesday forced Pakistan to abandon their practice session and raised fears of a delayed or disrupted start. However, conditions in Dambulla have improved, easing concerns over rain interruptions.
Forecasts indicate favorable playing conditions, with temperatures expected to remain around 22°C and a RealFeel of approximately 21°C.
While humidity is relatively high at 73%, creating a slightly muggy atmosphere, no rainfall is anticipated during match hours.
