The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched a free emergency mobile phone charging service at selected locations across Lahore, under the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, as part of broader efforts to enhance public safety.
According to officials, the initiative has been rolled out within designated safety zones, where citizens will have access to four key facilities: a panic button, Chief Minister’s free Wi-Fi service, emergency mobile phone charging, and additional security-related services.
A spokesperson for the Safe Cities Authority said the aim of the project is to improve public safety by ensuring that citizens remain connected during emergencies, particularly in situations where mobile phones run out of battery.
The official confirmed that free emergency charging facilities will be installed at 100 locations across the city.
At present, 30 charging ports have already been set up, and members of the public have begun using the service.
The authority added that the effectiveness of safety zones will be further enhanced in the coming weeks, with additional infrastructure and monitoring measures planned to improve citizen security across Lahore.
