Nights to become colder in Karachi as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted that temperatures will drop to single digits over the weekend.
As per the Met Office, the port city is set to experience temperatures as low as 9 degrees Celsius Saturday-Sunday night.
The Met Office said nighttime temperatures are expected to remain between 10 and 11 degrees Celsius from Thursday, before dropping further over the weekend.
Colder conditions will be felt more intensely due to persistent north-easterly winds sweeping across Karachi and nearby areas, lowering the perceived temperature.
Despite the cold spell, the PMD spokesperson has ruled out any chance of rain in Karachi or elsewhere in Sindh over the next 10 days. Dry weather is forecast to persist across the province, with chilly nights and early mornings continuing.
The spokesperson added that a western weather system may impact the country’s upper regions around January 18 or 19, though it is still uncertain whether it will reach Sindh. A clearer outlook on possible rainfall in the province will be shared later.
People have been urged to take precautionary measures as temperatures continue to decline in the days ahead.
