Hania Aamir and Bilal Abbas Khan’s drama Meri Zindagi Hai Tu has been getting a lot of attention online because of a major twist in the story.
Even though the show is popular, actor Alyy Khan, who plays an important role in the drama, has openly criticised its storyline and the way his character is written.
Alyy Khan, who is 57 years old, believes that many Pakistani TV dramas have started to look and feel the same.
In a recent interview, he said he worked in three different dramas this year, all with almost identical stories. One of them is Meri Zindagi Hai Tu, where he plays Hania Aamir’s father, who is supposed to be a doctor.

However, Alyy Khan pointed out that his character never actually does any medical work in the show. He said he has never even been seen in a clinic. Instead, his role is limited to household scenes, like coming from the kitchen, talking to his daughter, or managing family matters.
He questioned the logic behind calling the character a doctor when his profession has no real purpose in the story.

According to Alyy Khan, this repetition happens because TV producers copy formulas that sell well. If one drama succeeds, many similar ones are quickly made.
While he admitted this strategy works commercially, he encouraged writers and directors to be more creative and take risks. He believes Pakistani dramas focus too much on business and not enough on original ideas, which is stopping the industry from reaching its full potential.
