Pakistan’s local mobile phone manufacturing and assembly sector recorded a positive development in November 2025, with domestic companies producing more handsets compared to the same period last year. However, overall annual figures indicate that the industry has yet to achieve a full recovery.
According to available data, local mobile phone manufacturers assembled or produced 2.49 million handsets in November 2025, representing an increase of around 8 per cent compared to 2.31 million units produced in November 2024.
A recent report issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) stated that during the first 11 months of 2025, a total of 27.6 million mobile phones were manufactured or assembled locally across the country. This figure is three per cent lower than that recorded during the corresponding period last year.
The data further shows that of the 27.6 million handsets produced during the first 11 months of 2025, approximately 53 per cent—around 14.5 million units—were smartphones, while the remaining 47 per cent, or more than 13 million units, comprised 2G or feature phones.
During the same period, local manufacturing and assembly met nearly 88 per cent of Pakistan’s total mobile phone demand. This represents a decline from the average of 93 per cent recorded during the first 10 months of the year. Experts attribute this reduction primarily to increased demand for imported handsets following the launch of Apple’s iPhone 17.
According to the PTA, Infinix emerged as the leading locally assembled brand during the first 11 months of 2025, with 3.47 million units produced. It was followed by Vgo Tel (3.07 million), Vivo (2.57 million), Itel (2.2 million), Tecno (1.73 million), Samsung (1.57 million), Xiaomi (1.35 million), QMobile (1.06 million), Realme (1 million) and GFive (0.92 million units).
